2020 Season Update on COVID-19

April 8, 2020

We understand everyone is having concerns about the upcoming softball season. We will not be able start the season the week of May 18th as scheduled. We will be having another board meeting on May 4th with the hope of finalizing a start date. As you all know it is a very fluid situation with things changing every day. The safety of our players, coaches, and umpires is our main objective at this point in time. We had a meeting with the various organizations statewide and it seems like everyone is in a wait and see approach. We are looking at every possibility including delaying the season. Most organizations are looking at a June start with July 1st being a cutoff date for starting the season. I hope everyone will get registered so we know how many girls we will have. If we don’t have a season you will be reimbursed. Those of you that have registered and changed your mind about playing due to the pandemic can email us and we will reimburse you. Right now we are hoping for the best but will be working with the City and State to make an informed decision on playing this summer.

The JO Softball board is still watching the COVID-19 situation very closely. We understand there may be concerns with registration and the uncertainty of the upcoming season. We would like to extend the registration deadline to April 10th. Coaches in Divisions 1/2 and 3/4 can email a copy of their rosters to If the current COVID-19 recommendations are extended  such that we can no longer have a season, the board will refund any registration fees. With that being said, the season is still scheduled to begin the week of May 18th . Information regarding coaches meetings will be sent out in the near future. We will also be following the SDHSAA guidelines not allowing any organized practices or games until May 4th. If you have any questions, please contact a board member. Names and contact information can be found on our website at Please check the Oahe Fastpitch website and Facebook page for future updates. Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding and look forward to playing ball! Stay healthy!
